
At the top of the summit
AGALA, a word from the Berber (Amazigh) language, refers to small natural elevations in the landscape. On the summit of Gran Canaria, at a maximum altitude of 1,318 meters, we cultivate our vines and produce our wines.
Our symbol, a cross engraved on our wines, is an ancient petroglyph found in the caves of Roque Bentayga, an imposing 1,404-meter basalt peak that dominates the Tejeda caldera and crowns our winery.


The vineyard was born from Don Juan's Armas dream, his love for Tejeda and his dedication, which today allows us to enjoy AGALA wines.
In 1994, 11 hectares were planted between Tejeda and Artenara, at altitudes of 1,050 to 1,318 meters, making it one of the highest vineyards in Spain. The volcanic and rugged terrain required small plots and manual labor, preserving tradition and quality.

All our wines undergo the quality controls of the Gran Canaria Designation of Origin. This includes chemical analyses and organoleptic tastings carried out by the Tasting Committee.
The DO back label certifies the origin and quality of each bottle. In our winery, AGALA Dulcelena is labeled and sealed by hand, adding the finishing touch to these beautiful bottles that reflect our passion for wine.
Guarantee of origin and excellence

A space between stone and tradition
Part of our winery is carved into natural rock. It is in these caves that our aging cellar is located, with naturally stable temperature and humidity conditions. Here, our red wines rest in American, Hungarian, and French oak barrels, carefully selected by our winemaker according to each grape variety.
With a production capacity of 55,000 liters, we produce, control and bottle all our wines on the property.

The harvest is done entirely by hand, in 20 kg crates, to ensure the grapes arrive at the winery in perfect condition. After harvesting, they are stored in a cold room to preserve their freshness. Each grape then undergoes a manual selection process on our sorting table.
For white wines we apply cryomaceration, which provides a distinct personality, while the reds, except for the traditional young one, are perfected in barrels to increase their complexity and uniqueness.

Our philosophy combines traditional methods with modern techniques to create young, slightly acidic and velvety wines, with a unique persistence that awakens new sensations in wine lovers.

Our vineyard never suffered from the phylloxera that ravaged Europe, which allowed us to preserve vines brought from the 15th century by Spaniards and Portuguese, which are unique in the Canary Islands today.
We cultivate native varieties such as Listán Negra and Blanca, and others of great oenological interest, such as Vijariego Negra and Blanca, Castellana, Tintilla, Baboso Negro, Negramoll, Albillo and Muscat of Alexandria. We use a controlled drip irrigation system with water from the Tejeda Mine spring.

The soils are clay loam and volcanic, with good drainage and a high organic matter content. Treatments are minimal and environmentally friendly.
